About:
HI! I’m Alyce and I am a full-time student. I will graduate in the Spring with my
Bachelor of Communications degree and I can’t wait to find a job that encompasses my passion for social media, marketing, and strategic communication. I am married to the best guy, Nick, who is a Firefighter (aka full time hero). Our daughter, Avrey, is our greatest joy and is constantly making us laugh and driving us to the brink of insanity!

What amazes you most about being a mom?
Where to start!? I am constantly amazed at the love my heart is capable of holding for my daughter and the love she has for us. The constant stream of hugs and kisses helps ease the challenges we face as parents!

When did you realize you were ready to start a family and be all grown up?
I am not sure I have reached this yet! Nick and I always knew we wanted kids and after being married for over a year, we decided to take the plunge. We always thought we would have several kids, but when I decided to go back to school, our plans have changed. But, who knows what our future holds!

What’s the one thing you said you’d never do as a mom, but ended up doing?
Oh my! I was such a perfect parent before I had my daughter! I always said I would never allow my kid an iPad when out for a meal. You better believe I have eaten my words and it travels with us…frequently!

How would you describe yourself as a parent?
I try really hard to not be a helicopter mom, but it’s a work in progress! I try my best to be loving, understanding, and supportive. I want Avrey to know she can always come to me, no matter what.

What’s your ‘escape’ from being a mom, what keeps you sane?
Writing! It is such an incredible outlet for me. It definitley keeps me sane.

Which human values do you consider most important to teach our kids?
Kindness, acceptance, independence, and empathy.

What are you struggling with while raising your kid(s)?
Everything! Parenting is hard! But, specifically, I am working hard to stop worrying about everything.

Growing up, who inspired you the most? And why?
My mom. She was a stay at home mom and if I can be half the mom she is, I will be thrilled. She is my anchor, my constant cheerleader and rock. She showed me that I can do and be anything, and she is unconditional love personified.

What is the biggest lesson that you’ve learned so far in life?
I know it sounds cliche, but follow your dreams. I never imagined I would go back to school, especially after having a child. But, it was the best decision I made.

If you could meet anyone in person (dead or alive) who would it be and why?
I would love to meet my Baba (my mom’s mother). She died when I was a baby and from the stories I hear about her, she was an incredible woman. I would love to know more about the woman who raised my mom.

What do you wish you would have done differently in the last 10 years?
I wish I would have travelled more with my husband before having our daughter.

What is a goal you want to achieve in the next 10 years?
I would love to write a book.

If you could give your great grand children some advice, what would it be?
Discover your joy; whatever that is. Find it, embarace it, and live it.

What song do you see as your life’s theme song?
I Will Survive! This adult gig is tough, but I will survive. We all will…and if all else fails…chocolate always helps!

Thank you Alyce
